Charity

lukewarm people give money to charity and to the church as long as it doesn't impinge on their standard of living. If they have a little extra and it is easy and safe to give, they do so. After all, God loves a cheerful giver, right?

" King David replied to Araunah, "No, I insist on paying the full price. I will not take the Lord for what is yours, or sacrifice a burnt offering that costs me nothing" (1 Chron. 21:24)

"As he looked up, Jesus saw the rich putting their gifts into the temple treasury. He also saw a poor widow put in two very small copper coins. "I tell you the truth, he said, this poor widow has put in more than all the others. All these people gave their gifts out of their wealth: but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on" (Luke 21:1-4)

Yes we all give 'what we can' and not give everything. We have to eat, or buy shoes, or pay rent, or clothe our kids, and make house payments, car payments, etc... Do we ever just wake up one day, whether you are rich or poor and say Lord I give it all to you, we give EVERYTHING up - has anyone of us done that. It is impossible to do, even though the Lord asks it of us, it is hard to do. We are consumed with materialistic things and living comfortably. What about those poor countries who have nothing to give and they give what they have - they always seem to be the happiest people who love the Lord so much - maybe those people have it right - as sad as it is to see it and not wish it upon anyone -

Can you give up everything? Can you give it all away tomorrow and live a happy life?

Much love to all,
