The Gold Bond Moments.....

whew - what an exhausting weekend. The Relay for Life went great. THANK YOU to everyone who came out and walked and who supported us throughout the day. We really appreciate it. It was a fun day, the kids had a blast. They thought it was so cool to stay up all night and sleep in tents or wherever. Most of them didn't crash until 4:00am or so, but all the kids that were there were so good and had so much fun.

It wasn't as crowded as we all thought and it wasn't being watched to make sure each team had someone on the track. By 2:30am - we were the only team with someone on the track and we were one of the few teams left still there. They had 17 teams sign up and only 10 showed up. But by 3:00 there were three teams left and we were it for the walkers. They told us at 3:00 we could sit down and take a break and we were all like why stop now, we came this far, we aren't quitters- so we continued on.

We didn't yell or get snippy either those wee hours in the morning, we had great entertainment with Jeremy and his Gold Bond and Tonya with her pick in her hair - of course we were so slap happy that we would of laughed at anything.

We decided we would try it one more year - hopefully there will be more teams next year. I am going to suggest to them to only have it for 12 hours like the other counties and if they see people are still there, then extend it, but 18hours is - wow a long time. Even though we walked so much none of us lost any weight because there was SO much food there - kind of defeated the purpose :)

Dad did show up - he said he had a hangover though from Friday night and his three beers. I just laughed because in my whole life I thought I would never hear him say that. But he said quite a few hours - he was planning on making it back but never did - which was fine. He felt okay yesterday not 100% just okay he said.

THANKS AGAIN! for everyone's help and support - until next year!!!! (there is a slideshow of pictures at the bottom)

Much love to all,

  5. Michele, I had a great time!!! and I'm with you...they need to shorten the time like the other counties! I thought the candle light ceremony was beautiful and moving. Thanks to Michele, Steve, Jenny, Bill, Case, Jeremy (sorry if I missed anyone) for getting everything set up...alot of work went into the whole weekend and I know I didn't realize it!
    Love to all!
