many people are blessed to have one family, whether it is big or small, we are blessed to have an extended wonderful family, not only the aunts and uncles, cousins and friends, but to be blessed and accepted into another family as if we were their own brothers and sisters. I am talking about the Sketch family.
It all started back in the day when Jen and Bill moved back home from San Diego and between us five kids and Bill's brothers and sisters we formed a softball team. And through this softball team, not only did we dominate the field and bring home the championship but we also formed a special bond, a bond that links us to this day. We always had cook outs and were always together on Saturday nights until we retired the team. I think the younger generation and maybe even a few of the older ones still play, but I just had to give it up.
I, well really we, have always considered them a special extension to our family because of this bonding. I know throughout this ordeal with dad I have always considered Bill as one of us 5, he was actually our 6th child. He has been around as long as we all have, he knew dad and he loved him just as much, I am not saying the other in laws don't but when you are with a family for 20+ years, and you watch the little pest who kept turning on and off the light for you to come in and stop kissing his sister or always having someone pestering you while you are trying to make out, he has just really watched us grow into bigger pests :).... But my point is - we are blessed with our family extended and all, and doubly blessed to have had the Sketchs be part of our lives for so long and to allow both of our families to join us one big happy family - it is amazing and quite a blessing.
I bring this up because all of the Sketchs chipped in and gave Casey a gift card to go towards his Notre Dame college career not that is a big deal and why I am writing this, but Jen forwarded me the email in which what they said that truly brought me to tears.
They are a great family and we love them all - THANK YOU for being a part of our lives. Even you Nikki way up in Canada (LOL, you know I love you! )
From the Sketch family:
Bill was a great guy and we could not think of anything more fitting than to do something for the grandson he loved so much and the university that he loved. He is missed.

Sorry I haven't posted in three days - with it being light out still it is hard to get Brayden down at 8:00 - he always wants me to lay down with him, so of course I do and who is the first to fall asleep - not him, ME! Really, I am a little too young for an 8:00 bedtime - so I am working on getting his schedule fixed so I can get back on here every night. Just be patient with me.
Miss and love you dad!
Much love to all,
