I am scared

for the next generation. Working in HR, I see and hear a lot of things. Too much most days. What baffles me the most is the new younger generation. Their work ethic, what they say, what they wear and how they feel they have this sense of entitlement.

I exchanged some words yesterday with an employee because of what they were wearing. And all I said was that with you being in and out of the executive offices you may want to wear jeans or nice track pants and look a bit more professional not sweat pants.  Well you would think I told her she was a horrible person. This turned into my afternoon talking about dress codes and what is and what is not appropriate for the work environment.

I have mothers calling me for their grown children because they can't call in sick themselves, or they don't know their social security number or something that they should know. It is amazing to me how "not smart" this generation seems to be, work more than 40 hours, HA, HA, you are lucky if you get them to work 40! And then if you ask them to do something outside their realm of their job description - then you owe them money.

It is amazing to me - and scary to me that this is the way our county may be headed to. I know NOT all of the younger generation is like this, but they are out there. Yes there are children out there that are spoiled rotten with cars given to them, computers, rent, food, clothing, etc... I get that, no one wants to see their children suffer, but there is also a difference in that you need to teach your child to be INDEPENDENT and not so DEPENDENT on mom and dad.

Everyone in our family started working at least by the age of 14 if was babysitting or cutting grass or what have you and our work ethic - well it is too much work if anything, we all strive to give our best and if that means working 80 hours a week, then that means working 80 hours a week - that we get from mom and dad - they were both work horses.

Days are hard - I don't know how to be politically correct and tell someone to Grow Up and stop the whining and just work without me getting fired :)

The joys of HR - I know I have said too much already and if anyone from work read this, I would be in big trouble, but it isn't just work, it is also just the way of the world today!

Silver Spoon - some are born with it and never become independent from mommy and daddy even after they are married and have their own family, and others don't know what it is like to have the world handed to them.

Just life - if you think about it, is so weird how it works!

Happy Wednesday!

Miss and love you dad ~ so much.

Much love and happiness to all,
